February 27, 2010, 1-4pm - "The President's Day" Party

If prizes were given for best patriotic outfits we would have ALL won!! EVERY lady was totally decked out in red white and blue for our Presidential theme luncheon. It was difficult to pick the best, but prize for best decorated hat went to Valerie Holman – a cute teddy bear with a red white and blue sweater! Thanks to all of you who really got into the theme of things!! Many thanks to Holly for hostessing – your house festive and beautifully decorated in red white and blue, and a wonderful all-American lunch of barbecue and hot dogs, slaw, potato salad, baked beans, and red white and blue poke cake for dessert (with raspberries and blueberries on the side). We ate in stages between Presidential trivia and President’s bingo, and learned lots of ‘gossipy’ things about our Presidents (like who swam nude in the Potomac every day!)

January 24, 2010 - "Disney Theme Bunco" Party

What fun! Bunco and everything Disney. We really enjoyed the charades trying to guess the names of Disney movies. We each word the name of a Disney character on our backs and had to figure out who we were. We could ask each other only one question as we played bunco and when bunco was over, we had to guess who we were. Thanks to Pat Bemis for playing hostess.

December 13, 2009 - "Gingerbread Tea" Party

Our annual Christmas tea with a gingerbread theme and Queen Martha's teapots was a big hit. Many dolls wore their Santa hats as they decorated their gingerbread cookies and drank their tea. The gift exchange was a big hit too as each doll proudly showed off what was in their surprise gift bag.

October 24, 2009 - "1ST ANNUAL "CONVENETION" OF EXCEPTIONAL WITCHES"

The Witches converged at Holly's and after registration with the Exceptional Witch Most High, the convenetion began. You've never seen so man "pointed hats"!!  Activities included Networking Reception with "Chills and Horror Devourers", Exceptional Witch's Certification including "Which Witch is Witch" test, Hocus Pocus Trivia and Halloween Bingo, "Quess who this baby is?" contest, and the Haunting Ritual with chilling tales and poems.

The stormy weather provided just the right setting for the "convenetion" and the food and drink was "exceptional". Spiders were everywhere.

September 12, 2009 - "Back to School" Party

What a wonderful idea for a party! The "students" wore their school colors and talked about their school and what life was like when they were in high school.

Lunch was served in a "lunch bag" with the ParTEA Doll logo on it and included a sandwich, an apple, a cookie and chips. The "students" could opt for trading their sandwich or coke or chips with each other...and some did just that.

School began on time with the "students" meeting in their home room for announcements before going to their first class. All students received their diplomas at a graduation ceremony to the tune of (what else?) "Pomp and Circumstance".

The movie "The Proposal" with Sandra Bullock was funny. We had breakfast at the Cracker Barrel in Manassas and then tarried over to the nearby movie theater to enjoy a really good chick flick.

July 15, 2009 - Riverside Dinner Theater Murder Mystery

The food was very good for a dinner theater. It was not the usual buffet but a menu selection that included pork, chicken, fish and pasta. Before the theater opened, the characters from the murder mystery "Trouble at the Tropicabana" featuring Lucy, Ricky, Fred and Ethel came out to foyer and chatted with everyone.

June 13, 2009 - "Mamma Mia Karaoke" 70s Disco Party

What a great time we had, singing and dancing to "Mamma Mia". We were entertained by the "Dancing Queens" performing what else but "The Dancing Queens" including all of the "moves".

If you didn't come, you missed learning about the 70's and seeing June win "The Hustle" dance contest. Boy, can she hustle!. You also missed some great Greek salad, gyros, and baklava made by Queen Martha.

May 16, 2009 - ParTEA Doll "Trip to Paris" Luncheon

Nan Wehmeyer arranged a fabulous luncheon at a great restaurant, the Ashby Inn, in Paris, VA. There were only 8 of us but we had a wonderful time. The food was out of this world and the tea cups were big enough for two. It was great dressing up in her Red Hat clothes, having a good 'gabfast' with other 'dolls', and just enjoying a beautiful day out.

April 25, 2009 - ParTEA Doll "Egg Roll & Hen" Party

What a cute flock of chicks we had at the Hen Party!! A couple hundred eggs were hidden in the yard, all with bunny munny inside. It was not the number of eggs that counted, but the number of carrots on the munny! Everyone brought a decorated basket full of goodies with a different theme for exchange. There were tea themed items, relaxation, gardening, grilling, pet, wine/cheese – all beautifully decorated.

March 14, 2009 - "St. Pat's at Pat's" Celebration

What a fun time we had celebrating St. Patrick's Day the ParTEA Doll way! Green abounded in the food, the drink, the costumes and the merriment. We played our annual pass the green bags game and the pictures let you know how it all ended. After stuffing ourselves with green food including broccoli soup, irish soda bread, key lime pie, watergate salad, etc......we played Texas Hold 'Em. The big winners 'claimed' to know nothing about the game....so how come they won?

February 21, 2009 - "Death by Chocolate" Murder Mystery

What great fun was had by all, meeting the cast of "Death by Chocolate" and learning the facts while indulging in everything chocolate. The guests were given the facts and had a chance to question the suspects in the poisoning of Barry Rich by chocolate and vi-mocha-don (a generic form of viagra).

The Suspects included:

Ima Rich (Holly Shelton) as the wife of Barry Rich, wealthy owner of a computer software company MEDTECH, whose clients are doctors and hospitals. Ima sponsored a fundraiser "Death by Chocolate" for a new hospital wing for children and got more than she bargined for.

Gedda Shots (Martha Plunkett) as Dr. John Trayal's nurse and the mistress of Barry Rich. She had attended a convention with Barry Rich 3 months earlier and was wearing a 'belly bump' that she was 3 months pregnant and the father was her boyfriend who was an Air Force pilot in Iraq.

Bea Trayal (Fran Rowell) as the next door neighor of Ima and Barry Rich and the wife of Dr. John Trayal. Dr. Trayal is often at the hospital and while the "spouse is away", the wife likes to "screw around" with Barry Rich. During the fundraiser, she was always going to the bathroom 'throwing up' and couldn't stand the smell of chocolate - unless it was chocolate ice cream and pickles.

Marry Mee (Pat Bemis) as the administrative assistant to Barry Rich who likes to attend to his "every need." She wasn't feeling well either and was seen eating lots of chocolate pickles.

Wanda B. Moore (Sylvia Scarratt) as the masseuse at the Country Club where Barry plays golf and enjoys a massage several times a week. Wanda knows everything about everybody. She also would do "anything" for anybody" and had the fancy cars and fancy clothes to prove it.

During the fundraiser, the ladies had a chat at various times with each other and learned that Barry had been "cheating" on more than his wife and that Dr. Trayal had been 'busy fooling around' too.

February 1, 2009 "Welcome Tammy Moll" Bunco

What a great idea for a bunco party! Tammy Moll now lives in Minnesota and we wanted to welcome her back for a visit to Virginia. Tammy is a big fan of bunco so we decided that would be a good way to greet and visit with her.

January 24, 2009 "Black and White" Bunco

What a great idea for a bunco party! It was great to see everyone dressed in black and white - the colors of the dice we "rolled and rolled and rolled". Even the prizes were black and white and wrapped in black and white. Thanks to Holly for hosting. We all enjoyed the soups including cream of broccoli and salads including a delicious spinach salad with raspberry dressing. Even the desserts were black and white - well, chocolate is almost black.
