July 2010 Newsletter The pool felt so good on such a hot day for our pool party at Pat’s! Several played volleyball in the pool while other caught up on each other’s news by the side of the pool. We enjoyed hot dogs with all the fixin’s and Greek pasta salad and fruit, and everyone had a sand bucket full of snacks to munch on. As our theme was ‘Beach Blanket Bingo’ we played bingo (with a beach/pool theme of course), and we also played a water ring toss and another silly game (put an orange in one leg of pantyhose and tie the other leg around your waist, and then without using your hands, swing the orange to hit a ball to the finish line!) The Queen’s court continued after our strawberry brunch and planned the following: Upcoming Events JULY 17 - "SAFARI bunco" at Martha's watering hole - 1-4 pmYou’ll think you’re in the midst of the animals! Wear your animal prints, and bring a stuffed safari animal (if you have one laying around – don’t go buy one). Bring a dish to share: appetizer, salad, fruit, sandwiches or dessert – ready to serve (no oven heating). We each put in $5 for prize money too. I will provide drinks. Great response for this one and it is Currently full.AUGUST - No event for the Dolls; the Queen’s court are visiting Fran in PA for a long weekend to play and plan.SEPTEMBER 18 - "New England Clambake" at Holly's (hosted by Holly, Val, Kathi H, and Kathy P) - 1-4 pmThese New England-ers have a planning session in July and will let us know how much our lobster/clam dinner will be. It will be held at Holly’s from 1-4 pm. Wear beach attire, capri’s, etc. I will send an email as soon as I know the particulars—save the date!OCTOBER 2 - "Oktoberfest" and games at Martha's - 1-4 pmBratwurst/sauerkraut dinner, oompah music. Do the polka around the bunco tables as you change partners?????NOVEMBER 13 - "MAD HATTER’S TEA" Holly’s (or perhaps at her community center) 1-4 pmCome as your favorite Alice in Wonderland character (optional, but adds to fun), and bring tea time morsels to share (sandwiches, cookies, etc). Don’t be LATE for this very important DATE – OR OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!!!!!DECEMBER 18 - Christmas party. Save the date; more info laterJANUARY 22, 2011 - "ROCK & ROLL POKER" at Martha's - 1-4 pmCelebrity dealer? Poodle skirts, bobby socks, saddle oxfords???FEBRUARY 13, 2011 - Bunco with LOVE theme at Pat's - 2-5pmMARCH 5, 2011 - "MARDI GRAS" - 1-4pmBy popular demand (save the date – more details later)Mark these dates on your calendar and look for those fun accessories/props for your outfits – like in Alice in Wonderland ! Birthdays for July Pat Bemis and Mary Grossman, both the 24th! Have a great birthday Dolls! We have lots more ideas!! Just need to work in the dates and let the ideas flow!
